Alice B. Popejoy
Alice B. Popejoy, PhD candidate, has a Certificate in Statistical Genetics from the UW. Her research focuses on the evolutionary genetics of photoreceptors in human populations, as well as the under-representation of non-European ancestral groups in genetics research. Alice left a career in science policy in DC to pursue a PhD but she remains active in public policy and governance at UW. Alice has served as an Executive Senator and Chair of the Science & Policy Committee of the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) as well as Graduate Student Body President and Chair of the Provost Advisory Committee for Students (PACS). She is most passionate about modeling ethical scientific research that takes societal implications into consideration, and hopes to continue her career in academic research.
